Beautiful doors at Santi Quattro Coronati
Share
Every now and then I want to devote my blog posts to just beautiful things. Some are old some are new, but I liked them all. I really enjoyed walking the streets of Rome last October, and I want to return or go visit another city. I eventually wandered from San Clemente Basilica and happened up on the 900 year old Basilica of Saint Quattro Coronati.
It has several architectural features that was of interest and took many photos. I like the old weathered look. It is possible to mimic this but is very difficult and time is the best at distressing. The Basilica is 900 years old. I don’t know how old these doors are, but they’re quite old. There are several more there I liked.
There is an inner courtyard that you must enter to get to the Basilica. They were having a service inside, so I only got to snap a few photos of the interior, and I am always respectful of church services and customs.
In addition to the courtyard doors there appeared to be a shed door or two. The seemed to glow when I saw them so I walked over and got this shot below.
A few more and then I will show you a few of the other weathered parts of the Basilica.
A few photos to let you see how old the building is.
The Basilica is named for four Roman soldiers who chose death over their refusal to worship a non Christian God. They were buried here together but their names were not recorded. They named the Basilica in their honor.
Thank you for seeing my post.
